The Office of Transformation Management (TRM) has been established to strengthen critical corporate governance and support functions linked to the digital transformation of the Fund through IT-intensive capital investment. TRM consists of three units: the Corporate Project Management Unit (CPM), the Knowledge Management Unit (KMU), and the Office of Innovation and Change (OIC). TRM will include expertise in program management, change management, knowledge management, and business process improvement.
The Business Process Modernization (BPM) function resides in the Office of Transformation Management and promotes best practices in continuous improvement and process modernization at the IMF. The BPM’s team of certified process improvement professionals work to enable IT intensive capital project teams to improve efficiencies, reduce cycle times, and minimize errors through the application of Lean, Six Sigma and Design-thinking methodologies.
Job summary
The Projects Officer (Process Modernization) will work in concert with project teams to plan and execute process improvement activities during the scoping and implementation phases of IT intensive capital projects. The Projects Officer will bring best-in-class process improvement tools and expertise to support the program team in analyzing the as-is process, identifying inefficiencies and gaps, developing mitigation actions, and designing the To-be process. The Projects Officer collaborates closely with the Program Chief, Process owners, end-users, and other members of the project team to ensure successful implementation of the To-Be process as part of the business process workstream. The Projects Officer will also work closely with IT Technical Leads and TRM Change Management officers and to ensure that process changes can be supported by the technical solution and that appropriate change management and training is done prior to implementation.
Key activities
  • Apply the IMF’s standardized business process improvement framework and tools to develop modernized To-be processes consistent with the goals of IT-intensive capital projects.
  • Plan and lead business process improvement engagements, leveraging Lean tools and methods such as, As-Is modelling, root cause analysis, solution brainstorming and developing the To-Be process
  • Conduct independent and targeted process reviews, where necessary, to identify opportunities to modernize and streamline specific business processes.
  • Plan, design, and facilitate various types of process improvement or brainstorming workshops as required.
  • Collaborate closely with program teams, workstream leads and other subject matter experts to ensure effective implementation of the To-Be processes through information technology, automation, communications, and training.
  • Define and measure business process improvement success metrics, and monitor operational outcomes, ensuring consistency with project goals.
  • Build process improvement capabilities within project teams and among stakeholders over the medium term through coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Further strengthen the Fund’s business process improvement toolkit by developing templates, tools, and best practice guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (i.e., Business and Management, Operations, Information Technology, etc.) with at least four years of relevant process improvement experience, or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with ten years of experience, is required.
  • Process Improvement certification, such as Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or other equivalent methodologies, is desirable.
  • Design thinking expertise and experience applying design thinking principles to generate innovative solutions desirable.
  • Proven project management experience desirable.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple concurrent assignments in a busy, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork and relationship management.
  • The position requires analytical abilities and mature judgment, drive for results, a pragmatic and problem-solving mindset, an understanding of the Fund’s business model, and strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
