Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute targeted publicity campaigns for each assigned title and set measurable goals for success.

Craft publicity pitches and angles for both author-driven titles, but also proprietary topic-based books.

Write press releases and creative pitch letters for each campaign.
- Pitch and book media coverage for author/titles to print, radio, online/digital, podcasts and TV outlets.

Leverage social media to create awareness and buzz around book releases, with major traditional media outlets, influencers and bloggers.

Actively develop and maintain media contacts, including national, regional, and local.
- Communicate PR wins to marketing and sales team internally.

Continuously research new trends in publicity and children’s arenas.

Oversee Tommy Nelson representation at key industry events, conferences, media pitching trips, author media appearances and/or book signings.
- Organize and complete all press mailings as applicable.

Schedule and attend author media tours/events as applicable.

Manage the publicity budget for assigned titles.

Research, negotiate with, and manage outside publicity firms as needed.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of crafting and delivering professional pitches and news releases to media outlets
- Knowledge of media contact and engagement platforms such as Cision and Muck Rack preferred

Proven success with digital PR outlets preferred

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Skills:
- Desired candidate will be detail oriented, yet have a broad eye for the changing landscape of publicity, especially in digital
- Excellent communication skills, including exceptional writing skills

- Proficiency in making presentations to small and large groups.

Work Experience:

5+ years working in publicity, preferably in the book publishing, children’s/family entertainment or product spaces

2+ years national media pitching experience is desired in both traditional and digital outlets.
- Track record of traditional and digital media successes strongly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field.
