As a QA Technician (Bacteriologist), you will be responsible for ensuring food safety and microbiological testing for all pet food manufactured at the Denver factory. You possess a broad understanding of food safety standards, compliance, sanitation principles and good laboratory practices. Day to day, you will be actively collecting and testing samples in the lab, generating reports and determining release of product. Additionally, you will play a key role in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collect, test and analyze environmental, ingredient and finished product samples and initiate corrective action processes for out-of-specification results
- Function as primary contact for the factory Pathogen Monitoring Program (PMP) including development, implementation, adaptation and training
- Serve as release agent for finished product
- Monitor, update and champion sanitation practices
- Maintain internal control plan including maintenance and verification of lab equipment, calibrations, hygienic zoning and lab conditions
- Effectively work with interdepartmental personnel to maintain a continuous flow of safety, quality and production standards throughout the plant

REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 2+ years working in a quality, food manufacturing, laboratory, military or related environment
OR
- Associate degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, or related field with applicable lab experience
OTHER
- Must be willing to work weekends
The approximate pay range for this position is $54,000 to $64,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
