Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager

Location: Merrillville, IN

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $100,000 to $110,000 (Depending on Experience)


Job Description:


We are seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee our company's fleet of vehicles and equipment across all divisions. The ideal candidate will emphasize safety in all aspects of job performance and ensure that maintenance programs are executed efficiently and economically.


Essential Functions:
  • Direct daily interactions with the Assistant Director of Fleet Maintenance and Shop Managers, promoting safety and service excellence.
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures and resolve customer complaints.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment utilization.
  • Analyze equipment data to anticipate needs and recommend replacements.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for maintenance and inventory.
  • Ensure timely project scheduling and accurate reporting by Shop Managers.
  • Mentor staff and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Participate in the hiring process to select the best talent.
  • Provide coaching and conduct performance assessments for direct reports.
  • Stay current with industry knowledge and maintain confidentiality.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times.


Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of fleet management experience, with a high school diploma and technical training in a related field.
  • Experience in the railroad, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and safety policies.
  • Strong project management skills and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office and capable of learning additional software.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Valid driver's license; Class A or B CDL preferred.
  • Must be available 24/7 for emergency calls.


Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work under stress and in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • On-call availability for emergency situations.
