Job Summary:


The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for providing a high level of professional, competent service to all customers of Shimano's warranty department. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that quality standards are met.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all warranty returns are processed correctly and promptly.
  • Receiving and verifying shipment returns for completeness and accuracy and maintaining proper records required, which includes tracing lost or misrouted packages and initiating credit memos for returns.
  • Investigating problem situations and determining the appropriate method of resolution. Inform supervisor when necessary.
  • Share customer feedback and suggest new ideas to improve department procedures and services.
  • Warehouse product put-aways and transfers.
  • Other Quality Assurance Team jobs such as receiving UPS and cleaning up.


Job Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and repair of Shimano's bicycle and fishing products are preferred, and identifying new packaging is a plus.
  • Must become technically proficient with all Shimano products to provide responsive and competent telephone and e-mail support to customers in areas of product warranty.
  • Good verbal communication skills that can effectively communicate over the phone.
  • Strong analytical skills and a strong appreciation of customer importance.
  • Good follow-through skills and be ready and eager to lend a hand to help customers and peers with challenges.
  • Computer skills (PC: Windows, Excel, Word, AS400 knowledge a plus).
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive relationship with customers and within other Shimano departments.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment on a regular/full-time basis
  • Lift and move materials 50 plus pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a well-organized, observant, self-starter who can manage various projects simultaneously with little oversight.
  • Frequent overtime is required.


Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment:

  • Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning.
  • Approximately 75% of the time is spent on the computer.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The temperature of the work environment is equal to the outside temperatures of the area.


Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift from overhead or below the waist.
  • Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl and kneel.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 50+ lbs.).
  • Continuously sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.


Machines, Tools and Equipment

  • Continuously use copier, fax, printers, and 10-key calculator.
  • Continuously use writing instruments, computer and telephone.
