Overview:
This job description has been prepared as a guide to ensure better communication, clear expectations and understanding of the role of Quality Engineer. All responsibilities have not been included, Supervisors, may from time to time ask of Quality Engineer to perform other related duties not specifically included in this description. This description will be reviewed annually by the Department Manager and revised if needed to meet the business needs of ABC Technologies.
Responsibilities:
Ensures that the divisions’ and customers’ quality requirements are met on assigned products, programs, areas, and functions.
Participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, test, and supplier documentation to ensure that all requirements are fulfilled including a review of design drawings and changes, operation sheets, process procedures, test procedures, procurement documents, quality manuals, and inspection analyses.
Supports the operations group to which he/she is assigned including, providing visual aids and inspection analyses to assist the inspection process, and includes a key role serving as “referee” in making “accept” or “reject” decisions.
Supports the Design Engineering group on engineering hardware, the Customer Service Dept. on the analysis of hardware returned from the field, and the Purchasing Group for procurements.
Reviews quality trends associated with his/her assigned product or program and participates in the generation and implementation of defect-reduction programs.
Assists in identifying the root causes of a problem and instituting corrective action, as well as verifying effectiveness.
Participates directly in Material Review Board actions.
Interacts with representatives from a variety of functional groups, including design engineering, manufacturing engineering, purchasing, the program office, and all production and inspection personnel in the assigned product or program area, as well as others within the Product Assurance Dept. Also, may interact with customer and supplier representatives on quality issues.
Ensures that all aspects are in full compliance with the quality system in place at the operation at all times.
Ensures that product quality is attained in the assigned product group or program through fulfillment of workmanship standards and quality program requirements. Identifies and reports quality problems or trends in the assigned area or product.
Recommends or implements the appropriate corrective action to quality problems in the assigned area, with the aid of manufacturing engineering, design engineering, purchasing, etc.
Ensures there are no interruptions or errors due to lack of giving or seeking information by fully informing the Group Leader of all events affecting plant operations.
Maintain a productive working environment by promoting good communication and cooperation as well as maintaining positive habits and attitudes.
Follow safety rules 100% of the time and ensure that all procedures under OSHA are being followed.
Take action to promptly correct or remove all workplace hazards and unsafe work conditions.
Qualifications:
2-4 years in automotive quality; High school graduate or GED; Microsoft Windows experience; Understanding and experience with TS 16949 as well as ISO 14001 systems and processs
