JIRA Developer

As a JIRA Developer at our client, your primary responsibilities will include configuring, maintaining, and administering JIRA and JIRA Service Management systems. You will design and optimize workflows, manage a scalable JIRA hierarchy, and ensure system integrity across projects. Additionally, you’ll develop custom configurations to meet specific technical requirements and implement integrations with other essential tools. Maintaining robust reporting solutions is also a key part of your role.

To qualify for the JIRA Developer position with our client, candidates must hold SC Clearance and be sole UK nationals. You should possess proven expertise in JIRA and JIRA Service Management, with knowledge of configuring and optimizing these systems. Experience with automation, workflow design, and custom configurations is essential, as well as familiarity with Agile practices to align JIRA settings with the program's needs.

This JIRA Developer position is part-time, where you will be expected to work around 50% of the month. This typically translates to at least two days a week on site in Corsham, in addition to accommodating remote work. This flexible schedule allows you to balance professional commitments while contributing to an important government project.

Unfortunately, the JIRA Developer position at our client is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without requiring Tier 2 – General visas. As such, we are looking exclusively for candidates who are sole UK nationals.

The initial contract for the JIRA Developer role is set to begin in early February 2025 and will run until the end of March 2025, encompassing approximately 20 days of part-time work. There is potential for extension until the end of June 2025, based on project needs and performance.

To ensure the integrity of JIRA systems, I prioritize a structured approach. This includes regularly auditing the configurations, establishing clear hierarchies, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. By collaborating closely with stakeholders and adapting the system based on feedback, I also ensure that it continues to meet the program's evolving requirements.

I tailor JIRA configurations to suit the unique workflows of Agile teams by collaborating with them to understand their processes. I implement flexibility in workflows, ensuring that iterations are easily manageable within JIRA. Additionally, I provide training and support to teams, enabling them to maximize JIRA's functionalities aligned with Agile methodologies.

To optimize workflows in JIRA, I conduct a detailed analysis of existing processes, engaging with team members to pinpoint bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Based on these insights, I design streamlined workflows that enhance user experience, automate repetitive tasks, and establish clear guidelines for progress tracking, ensuring greater overall productivity.

For integrating JIRA with other tools, I begin with a thorough assessment of the data flow and requirements. I ensure that integration is seamless and enhances overall functionality. I utilize APIs for integrations, regularly monitor performance, and gather feedback from users post-implementation to make necessary adjustments.

When it comes to JIRA reporting and dashboards, I focus on creating views that provide meaningful insights to stakeholders. I customize reports and dashboards to fit specific needs, ensuring they highlight key performance indicators. Regular feedback is essential, so I engage with team members to refine these tools based on their evolving requirements.

If JIRA isn't meeting a team's needs, I initiate an open dialogue with the team to understand their specific challenges. I then analyze these concerns, propose potential modifications or enhancements, and iterate the solution based on their feedback. My goal is to ensure that JIRA evolves alongside their workflows.
