Overview:
LMI is seeking a radiation engineer to join our DHS CWMD Securing The Cities (STC) Team. A successful candidate will understand the science and technologies of personal radiation detection (PRD) capabilities and the application of Domestic Detection CONOPS. This position requires an Active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain DHS Suitability. The position can be supported remotely.
With the threat of transnational terrorism and ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by nations potentially hostile to the U.S., DHS has taken steps to integrate the full range of its radiological, nuclear, chemical, and biological capabilities to enhance the nation’s abilities to prevent terrorists and other threat actors from using WMD, and support operational partners in closing capability gaps along adversary pathways. As the focal point for this effort, DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Operations Support Directorate (OSD) requires advisory and assistance services to effectively operationalize CWMD by developing and enhancing the capabilities of the DHS Components as well as federal, state, local, territorial and tribal (FSLTT) partners. LMI provides advisory and assistance services (program support, training and exercise, medical operations, information integration, requirements generation, and operational coordination) to CWMD Operations Support Directorate (OSD).

Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and guidance in technical areas requiring extensive interpretation of processes and methods related to radiation and nuclear threat detection capabilities in support of local and regional CWMD stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies.

Understand and advise in application of Domestic Detection Concept of Operations (CONOPS).

Consult and advise all levels of federal management and technical personnel, including federal staff from other federal agencies, including Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Department of Energy (DOE).

Prepare and provide technical briefings and reports.

Support conducting and evaluating research and development projects.
Qualifications:
- MA/MS degree, or equivalent.

20 years or more experience preferred with a demonstrated knowledge of radiation and nuclear sciences, and radiation and nuclear detection capabilities.

Active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain DHS Suitability.

Familiarity with Domestic Detection CONOPS.

Excellent communications skill both written and oral.

Experience in interagency work, including DOE and FBI, preferred.

Familiarity with ANSI standards on Radiation Instrumentation preferred.
