Rail, as part of the Land Sector, have an exciting opportunity for a Railway Apprentice Technician to join the business working on Railway infrastructure replacement, maintenance and betterment. Engagement would be across the following disciplines signalling, telecoms, civils and electrical
You will gain academic qualifications and professional experience through a team of dedicated professionals across all function of the delivery lifecycle – scope development, estimating, design, delivery and hand over to customer
You will attend training courses and gain competence through a detailed personal development programme which will deliver underpinning knowledge and understanding in the job role to allow you to excel for yourself and the organisation
What you need:
Educated to grade C or above in GCSE/National 5 (or equivalent) in a minimum of 5 subjects which must include Maths and English. You will be enthusiastic, motivated and with good communications skills and be able demonstrate clear potential to continuously grow and develop your skills and career at Babcock as you decide which direction your progression will take
You will be required to work as part of a team, working both day and (later in your training) night shifts, including weekends, indoors and outdoors
You will also work on or near railway lines and have the ability to work on your own initiative. Comprehensive on the job training will be given in track safety and the other skills necessary in carrying out this role.
You will be required to pass a medical with our Occupational Health provider, to ensure you meet the standard for working in a safety critical role. During your apprenticeship you will earn a competitive apprentice wage and gain hands-on technical experience
