The R&D controls engineer is responsible to design, document, program, and test PLC applications focused on Vanderlande’s proprietary products. The controls engineer works closely together with multi-disciplinary team of development engineers to execute the product development and implementation process. The controls engineer will be working in a multidisciplinary team to realize scalable and flexible software products that build the logistic systems of tomorrow. Pilot implementations of products will require site support and may include travel to site. Long term product support and maintenance is also required.
Finalize designs and deliverables, according to our processes, in order to guarantee a smooth transition to the relevant stakeholders.
Defines a planning for the work to be done, estimates the workload and lead time and communicates to relevant colleagues about changes and risks pro-actively. Adapts to changes and is solution oriented.
Works on technical solutions for complex functions, while respecting both Vanderlande standard solutions and innovative technologies.
Support product development from concept through deployment by ensuring all performance and technical requirements are achieved.
Ensure that product development is consistent across global regions while respecting local standards and conventions.
Communicate closely with product development team and other groups within VI (i.e., mechanical, electrical and OT engineering, project management, supply chain, sales/proposal department and installation).
Learn new skills and stay current on latest technology (technical professional).
Initiate improvement actions.
Support of Vanderlande software standardization platform.
Is capable of working on topics/issues on discipline level and exceeding the product level.
