TV Reporter - Content Hub (12 month FTC)

Company Description

Are you keen to write about the latest live TV moments? Do you know your soaps and mainstream British TV shows inside and out? We are looking for a Reporter to join our Screen Time team in our newly created Content Hub. We give our readers all the backstage gossip, TV secrets, on and off-screen couples and viral TV blunders as and when they happen - and we want you to help us grow.

This is a fantastic opportunity to create content about all things TV for more than 50 major news sites and some of the biggest titles in the UK including but not limited to The Mirror, Daily Express, Manchester Evening News, Daily Record, Liverpool Echo and Birmingham Live.

The Content Hub is home to around 300 journalists from across our business and powered by our amazing brands, delivering brilliant content that drives engagement, impact and results. You’ll be part of our Screen Time team, publishing original content across our network based on audience data.

So, who are we?

We are Reach Plc, you might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Ireland’s most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human.

Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.

This role is home based and we are therefore open to candidates based across the UK.

We are happy to consider applications on a flexible working basis, and will always aim to accommodate requests where possible.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract role.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will create, source and write engaging TV content for our various news brands. You will cover a variety of topics from covering live TV events and streaming show reviews to behind the scenes news and reality TV events, ensuring all your content is thoroughly researched and in accordance with IPSO code.

You will tell stories in many different ways including but not limited to real-time live blogs, features and first person articles. You will utilise AI tools, in line with Company policies, to optimise content creation, improve accuracy and efficiency, and deliver engaging articles that resonate with our audience. This role involves working 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm shifts on a rota basis, including 1 weekend shift per month.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You are an experienced NCTJ or equivalent qualified journalist (or have relevant time served experience) with demonstrable experience writing and publishing news content in a digital newsroom or magazine environment. Proven experience writing about TV and live TV coverage is highly desirable. You will be full of ideas and be ahead of the curve in terms of current hit series and the ones we will be raving about in the weeks and months to come.

You can optimise stories in accordance with the digital SEO/Social strategies, write and edit in line with digital house style and identify unique headlines and angles for stories to make content more searchable. So if you know what’s happening in Death in Paradise, and what trouble Carla Connor has found herself in on the cobbles, this could be the ideal role for you!

  • Help saving for your retirement - join our pension scheme and we’ll match contributions up to 6%
