Overview:
This position is paid through the American Rescue Plan Emergency Assistance to Nonpublic Schools. Salary and benefits will be provided through FACTS Education Solutions.

Are you passionate about increasing literacy for youth in your community? Seneca Family of Agencies is proud to partner with FACTS Education Solutions to hire a Reading Associate. As a Reading Associate, you’ll provide one-on-one and small-group literacy instruction to struggling readers at Seneca’s Nonpublic Schools in the East Bay. Participating in training to develop an understanding of foundational reading and phonics progression, our Reading Associates learn to use whole-body reading interventions, existing curricula, technology-based programs, and games to teach word recognition and comprehension to K-12 students.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend reading curriculum training to develop reading intervention knowledge and skills
  • Provide targeted reading intervention to individual and small groups
  • Conduct reading assessment, track and share data with students, families and teachers
  • Attend weekly meetings with reading interventionist, specialist and instructional leaders
  • Engage in observation, coaching, and feedback sessions with instructional leaders and reading interventionist
  • Attend monthly literacy professional learning communities
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in using behavioral, clinical and therapeutic techniques appropriately
  • Write mental health notes to document interventions
  • Participate in individual and small group treatment
  • Communicate effectively with all staff involved in the daily life of the client
  • Intervene with the clients in the program as needed, which may include physical management of the clients and implementation of Seneca ‘s Equilibrium Model Training
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • TB test clearance, fingerprints, and any other mandatory state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster
  • Experience in educational settings working with high-trauma youth and developing reading skills/literacy development
  • Creativity to develop and implement new interventions around phonics development based on youth interests and needs
Schedule:
  • Full-time
  • School-based schedule, on-site
  • 5 weeks of paid time off and 11 paid holidays
