Greets visitors and directs them to appropriate offices and meeting rooms. Answers telephone and inquiries, takes messages, and transfers and refers callers. Manages calendars, operates standard office equipment, and performs a variety of clerical work.
The front desk receptionist position is critical to the public’s perception of the police department. Duties include greeting all visitors, some of whom are crime victims. As such, the front desk receptionist must be welcoming, empathetic, and well-versed in the support services available here at the University. Additionally, duties include answering and screening departmental phone calls as well as monitoring the fingerprinting services. The incumbent will be required to perform confidential data entry as well as organize and distribute other confidential information.

Essential Functions Greet and direct all visitors for all building occupants (Environmental Health & Safety and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Public safety and Emergency Management). Answer and screen all phone calls. Shipping and receiving materials; notify personnel of deliveries. This position fields calls, assists with visitors, mail, delivery of packages, etc. for the Police Department, Environmental Health & Safety, and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Public Safety and Emergency Management. Sort and distribute incoming mail for all building occupants and FAX material. Collects fingerprinting money and aids in the process of completing fingerprinting cards. Phone campus work requests to Facilities Management and submit online. Provides administrative support to police department employees. Inventory, order and stock all office supplies. Inventory, order, and stock all coffee/beverage supplies. Order materials from graphics, marketing and printing i.e. timecards, letterhead, envelopes, parking signs, etc. Maintains data on all department orders and submits to the department administrator for monthly level review. Liaison for ACCESS-retrieval of requested stored boxes; order ACCESS supplies as needed. Maintains records for lost and found items as well as recovered property. Handles the return of property and assists in contacting the owners to arrange for pick up. Assists in the storage and maintenance of recovered property and lost and found items.
Physical Effort Escorting people throughout the building; sorting mail and boxes delivered to the building and placing them in the appropriate mailbox.
