Recreation Aide - Casual

We are currently recruiting for fun, detailed-oriented, resident advocates to join our team as Recreation Aides!

We are currently looking to hire for casual status, but there may be opportunity for increased hours in future.

THE ROLE

As a member of the peopleCare team, the Recreationist participates in the implementation of programs to meet the various physical, psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual needs of residents. This position will assist in monitoring the needs and progress of the residents.

Reports to: Director of Programs

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assists in implementing the group and individual life enrichment programs and sensory stimulation activities including setting up activity area, as assigned.

· Transport residents to and from programs and meals and assist in feeding residents if necessary.

· Monitor behaviour and condition of residents at programs, reporting any significant changes to supervisor and nursing staff.

· Maintains program and resident records according to department policy.

· Reports participation of residents to registered staff regularly.

· Reports incidents/accidents immediately to supervisor.

· Complies with all WSIB reporting and documenting requirements.

· Cooperates with the company Return-To-Work Program as required.

· Participates in all relevant and required in-service education.

· Compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.

· Compliance with peopleCare policies and procedures.

· Compliance with current Long Term Care Act.

· Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS

· Diploma or degree in Recreation and Leadership, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology, or equivalent.

· 1-year progressive related experience.

· 6 months in this job to reach competency.

Where the successful candidate has not been fully vaccinated, a documented medical reason provided by a physician or nurse practitioner and the time period for the medical reason may be accepted consistent with peopleCare’s COVID-19 Immunization Policy.
