SBA/Commerical Documentation Specialist II

Responsible for timely and accurate preparation, review and approval of all loan documentation and funding packages; including, but not limited to SBA, Commercial, Real Estate and Commercial Construction loans of moderate to high complexity. Ensure all approved terms are accurately documented, all collateral is properly perfected, required loan funding conditions are met, and SBA Loan Program requirements, RCU policy guidelines and Federal/State regulations are adhered to. This role will also perform a variety of duties within the Loan Doc & Funding department supporting Mortgage, Consumer and Business lending activities. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Possess and maintain an advanced knowledge level of LaserPro Documentation system and working knowledge of SBA Module for LaserPro.
  • Review and follow for periodic documentation updates and work with management to change loan specs necessary to remain in compliance to inform staff of any changes.
  • Perform quality control level loan documentation review for all loan types, including complex CRE, Construction, SBA and commercial loans, ensuring timely, accurate and legally sound loan documentation packages, adherence to approved terms, conditions and SBA Loan Program requirements.
  • Prepare loan documentation for all loan types, including CRE, Construction, SBA, Commercial, Real Estate and consumer loans.
  • Perform peer review of loan documentation for all loan types.
  • Perform pre-closing due diligence, examining all documents and submitted forms, including but not limited to, leases, preliminary title reports, various recorded documents, borrowing entity documents, franchise agreements, lease estoppels to ensure compliance with Redwood CRU guidelines, policies, regulatory guidelines, and SBA Loan Program requirements, checking for inconsistencies or accuracy issues; resolve with lender and/or lending staff.
  • Act as liaison and interact with lending staff, Members, insurance agents, legal counsel, Title & escrow officers, etc., to ensure all conditions are met for closing and funding packages are thoroughly reviewed for accuracy, funding figures balance and coordinate the details of the loan boarding and funding activities.
  • Anticipate and solve problems, seeking resolution to issues that might derail closing or otherwise inconvenience all parties, while delivering exceptional Member Service.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of all insurance types, including flood insurance requirements, working directly with the borrower’s agents to resolve insurance policy issues, and ensuring a smooth closing experience.
  • Follow up, review, and approve all ALTA policies and/or satisfactorily resolve all discrepancies with Title Company.
  • Satisfactorily resolve all post-closing audit exceptions.
  • Call Members to request financial information or documentation, as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive knowledge of SBA loan packaging, documentation and servicing and commercial real estate loan closing procedures and practices.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion in making decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize time, and work independently.
  • Skill in the operation of a PC with the use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, and Internet and intranet access.


Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

• Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.

• Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.


Education/Experience:

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years’ experience in SBA and business lending documentation and process administration.


Compensation: Base starting range: $33.00 to $43.00 per hour commensurate with experience.

Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
