Job Role:
Directs, supervises and mentors directors and staff in region in executing Special Olympics Florida’s (SOFL) mission in adherence to organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university
- Five years’ experience in supervision or management (experience with a non-profit organization and multi-chapter/unit and remote supervision preferred)
- Experience in sports administration and/or event operations, as well as recruiting, motivating, supervising and delegating tasks to volunteers and staff
- Experience in corporate partnerships, grant writing, special events and general fundraising preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate efficient time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong business acumen
- Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Regular attendance required
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all operational functions in assigned region
- Provide leadership and support to directors, staff and volunteers to effectively execute SOFL’s mission and strategic plan
- Collaborate with field staff to develop a strategy to expand programing in assigned area to include marketing plan to recruit athletes, Unified partners, volunteers and new donors to support programs
- Supervise and attend management team meetings
- Guide and enforce adherence to SOFL’s general rules and accreditation requirements
- Maintain current knowledge of Special Olympics Florida’s policies and procedures
- Provide oversight of area budget process and assist with achieving annual financial targets
- Work with Development department to cultivate corporate partnerships and steward external stakeholders in assigned region
- Act as liaison between SOFL state office and area programs
- Collaborate with other SOFL departments and designated committees/groups to enhance support for county and area programing
- Actively participate in the development and execution of county and area recruitment strategies
- Establishes new county programs
- Work collaboratively with Special Olympics Florida staff on all Area, Invitational, State or Regional Games
- Other duties as assigned
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to travel 40-60% of work week
- Valid FL Driver’s License and good driving history
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
