Registered Nurse (RN) - Pemex Health Provider

Job Purpose: To Provide, Engage and Influence Worker Health Protection and Worker Wellbeing for all staff at DPR

  • Provide Occupational Health (OH) technical, professional and leadership attributes to the Pemex Deer Park Refinery and additional Pemex assets and SLA.

  • Deliver the professional OH role in implementation of occupational health services, including but not limited to pre-placement & periodic fitness to work & medical surveillance assessments, drug testing, occupational injury/illness care, disability medical case management, health promotion, health hazard management in line with DPR HSSE & Control Framework and Pemex worker health protection strategy. Provide technical OH support to HHSE / Industrial Hygiene (IH) and Emergency Response

  • Protect and promote health of people via a Human Performance and Care lens.

  • Partner with leaders in compliance assurance and creating a Culture of Care.

  • Provide professional and leadership support to DPR.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Partner with HSE and Business in the delivery and assurance of technical and professional aspect of Occupational Health e.g. Medical examination, diagnosis and treatment, Medical Surveillance and Fitness to Work evaluations, Injury and illness care and disability management Travel health, delivery of substance abuse testing and policy compliance, Episodic non occupational injury and illness care, etc

  • Support IT systems, performance monitoring, digitalization opportunities and innovative technologies.

  • Assess and ensure compliance within DPRLP / Pemex Health / Pemex and Local legislative requirements.

  • Provide Health and HSE Business Partnering at skilled level – training, assessment, review, assurance and technical advice.

  • Actively contribute to the delivery of HP&C Components (including Care for People) in implementation of programs and daily behaviors

  • Provide Health and HSE support and advice to Peers, Staff, and Shell businesses.

  • Leverage on HSE, Environmental and Occupational Health skills to provide high value business partnering opportunities to ongoing business and projects. Increase reputation and community goodwill.

  • Identify opportunities to add value in the context of social and environmental health to protect and strengthen license to operate at DPRLP.

  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders in Health, HSE, Business, Contractors, Regulatory Agencies and Professional Peers.

  • Supports implementation & utilization of standardized health processes

  • Reports and maintains protocols of Supervision with contract Physician and provides standard of care as per State Medical Board regulation.

  • Maintain required written programs for occupational health and health risk management, assure effective implementation, seek and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Deliver OH support within the HP&C framework, build capabilities and understanding of Culture of Care and its business value.

  • Partner with the business, and contract holders to assure effective contractor health management.

  • Provide consistent expert professional support at a site with a variety of operating and maintenance work areas, functions, cultures and expectations.

  • Provide assurance of health and safety programs for onsite staff and contractors as well as the nearby community.


Professional Skills and behavioral attributes


  • Masters Degree as a RN from an accredited college or university

  • Current license & member in good standing with nursing board or medical board

  • Current certification in CPR/AED

  • Audiometric & pulmonary function testing certification, & alcohol & drug sample collector certification – required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience. Occupational Health nursing training & certification desirable

  • Strong knowledge and experience with regulations affecting Occupational & Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Skill level in evaluation, selection and implementation of progressive levels of digital OH technology, and it’s effective use in Health Care Management.

  • Ability and experience effectively working in multidisciplinary teams. Be able to prioritize & manage tasks effectively, balance multiple activities/objectives, cope with occasionally high levels of work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment & deliver results

  • Ability to lead and or participate in moderate complexity local and regional projects.

  • Ability to develop and express ideas and opinions concisely.

  • Fluency in English. Good verbal & written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills
