Regulatory Compliance Manager

The Regulatory Compliance Manager is a vital role within our Company, responsible for ensuring company policies and procedures comply with all tobacco industry regulations and standards. This detail-oriented and analytical role entails proactively monitoring and assessing regulatory requirements, implementing compliance strategies, preparing documentation for submission to regulatory bodies on behalf of the Company, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain a culture of regulatory excellence.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive compliance strategies in alignment with local, federal and international tobacco regulations, including, but not limited to, manufacturing, labeling, advertising, and distribution.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tobacco regulations, industry standards, and best practices. Monitor regulatory developments, interpret their impact on the company, and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into actionable compliance policies and procedures. Ensure the subsidiary’s manufacturing practices, product marketing materials, and packaging comply with all relevant regulations.
  • Plan and coordinate regulatory audits and inspections conducted by external regulatory bodies. Prepare the subsidiary for such assessments, facilitate communication between auditors and internal teams, and drive corrective actions where necessary.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely regulatory reports as required by local, federal and international regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with reporting obligations related to product ingredients, sales data, and other regulatory disclosures.
  • Foster a culture of compliance by promoting awareness and accountability at all levels of the organization, overseeing and supporting junior team members in this endeavor.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Legal, R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance, to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into business processes and decisions. Provide guidance on regulatory implications for new product development and marketing initiatives. Support and maintain Compliant Product Specification Databases for all products manufactured by subsidiary.

  • Work alongside Company leadership members to understand the objectives and goals of the organizations and provide insight on the regulatory and compliance framework that will impact those objectives and goals.
  • Identify potential compliance risks, evaluate their potential impact, and develop risk mitigation strategies. Implement and maintain effective compliance controls and monitoring systems to minimize regulatory and operational risks.
  • Source and collate scientific publications for regulatory submissions.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to business operations.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with internal teams, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., regulatory affairs, law, public health) required. Advanced degree or certification in regulatory compliance is a plus.
    • Prior experience in a highly regulated business sector such as FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Devices, Tobacco or Alcohol preferred
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in regulatory compliance within the tobacco or related industry, with a strong understanding of tobacco regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of global tobacco regulatory frameworks, including FDA regulations, WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), and other regional/national legislation.
