Job Description:
Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of building a $1BM revenue, profitable new business in the Workforce Benefits market. We’re actively seeking a talented and experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) Program Manager to join our Workforce Benefits division in Newport Beach, CA.

As a RTE Program Manager in our Strategy & Program Management Office (PMO), you’ll play a key role in oversee overall delivery and execution of business priorities needed to start up, and continue to evolve this exciting new business for Pacific Life. You will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of multiple teams to ensure that releases are delivered on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. In addition to your deep expertise in delivery, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership demeanor, and a continuous learning focus to all that you do.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Strategy and PMO for the Workforce Benefits Division and will play a critical role in managing the planning and release of needed capabilities to execute the division’s strategy.

You embrace the ambiguity and high degree of complexity associated with standing up a new business and new organizational structure. You are willing and able to jump in where needed across many different functional areas and bring an innovative mindset to solving critical business problems.
This role is highly desirable to be on-site or hybrid in Newport Beach, CA. Will consider 100% remote for the right candidate.

How you will make an impact:
This leadership role facilitates and manages program-level processes and execution through:
Driving of program decisions, working cross-team dependencies and addressing/mitigating critical risks partnering with key stakeholders, product managers, product owners and project mangers
Leading, guiding teams through and facilitating Agile Release Train (ART) events, such as ART Sync and PI planning, to ensure alignment with program timelines, scope, objectives and quality of work
Serve as “scrum of scrums”, ensuring coordinated and healthy backlogs, development velocity and efficient capacity management across teams, utilizing Azure DevOps tracking and reporting
Reports status and supports activities related to Portfolio Management and Release Management, also partnering with WBD leaders to provide executive communications around program delivery
Maintain accurate ART rosters and ensuring resource information such as role, capacity, team assignments and allocations are accurate and up to date
Example work products: release plan, risk management plan, release schedule, release backlog, communication plan, release metrics, test plan, release sign-off documents and release train retrospectives

The experience and expertise you will bring:
A highly motivated, collaborative individual with 8+ years technology experience, exceptional communication skills and proven experience working with diverse teams of technical architects, business users and technology teams on all phases of the software development life cycle
Ability to blend innovation and agile development methodologies with traditional project management to optimize solutions and collaboration
Ability to lead independently with minimal guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts, and perspectives to the benefit of the organization
Strong leadership skills, both strategic and tactical, with a high degree of emotional intelligence
Proven experience managing teams that include multiple third parties and internal resources
Experience in the life insurance, financial services, or employee benefits markets highly desired
Experience leading large programs and small-scale projects with a wide variety of scope while consistently applying critical thinking skills
Ability to work autonomously, setting an agenda in line with company priorities and driving high-impact, high-quality work product through collaborative and individual efforts

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$138,400.00 - $173,000.00 - $233,600.00
