The role reports to the Production Manager and is located in Warminster, Pennsylvania. As a Remote Seals Welder, you will be responsible for setting up and performs all operations relating to Transmitter welding and fusion welding. Assembles and calibrates transmitters as needed and operates various machines and test equipment needed in the assembly of transmitters and seals. Reviews and acts on parts requirements, inventory status, and secures a variety of parts and materials. Reads blue-prints, and cross-references prints. Shares knowledge with others.

Your responsibilities

  • Receives, stores, issues, cycle counts and back flushes material as required. Initiates and receives Kanban items
  • Reads blueprints, work orders, process sheets and procedures to determine necessary welds, brazing and assemblies. Checks to see if material is per print. Refers errors, defective material or other problems to Supervisor or Flowline Leader or Engineer
  • Sets up and operates required manual and automatic welding and brazing equipment. This includes the setup of special weld operations including TIG, MIG and stick welding
  • Sets up parts preparatory to welding, using turntables, lathes, vise, fixtures, shins, levels and squares
  • Assembles, fills and welds the remote seal assembly
  • Cuts and prepares capillaries for final assembly
  • Makes necessary adjustments and settings to equipment to make acceptable product while making sure all transmitter components are protected from damage
  • Operates absolute pressure transmitter oven, evacuation and plugging system
  • Loads, operates and unloads the heat treat furnace
  • Sets up and operates diaphragm conditioning and tensioning test equipment.
  • Welds remote seal tube (eg. 47P243) shut after filling and crimping with a minimum success rate of 90% as judged by pressure testing of the remote seal assembly
  • Be able to weld small and delicate parts, such as bushings 8P757 and ferrules 50S11 and 50S12 with a minimum first pass yield of 80%
  • Refers machine malfunctions and production problems to lead person/Flowline Leader, supervisor or Engineer
  • Performs helium leak tests for welds leaks. Repairs leaks by re-welding or using a sealant when welding is not practical. Forms, reforms, conditions and heat treats diaphragms after welding
  • Checks own work using standard measuring instruments to .005 tolerances
  • When necessary, calibrates and adjusts instruments with computer assisted benches or hand held devices
  • Performs all necessary material transactions associated with production and inventory control
  • Advises lead person/Flowline Leader when supplies are low or when supply problems exist. Trips Kanban signal if appropriate
  • Moves material safely by hand or with hand lift truck as required by the Flowline leader/Supervisor
  • Performs miscellaneous duties within scope of job know how

Your background

  • Requires 3 to 5 years experience. Must have attended training in Flow Line technology including Kanban practices
  • Must qualify to all ABB welding procedures via American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
  • Must have basic knowledge of metal properties pertaining to welding operations
  • Understanding of welding and brazing procedures and techniques as related to assembly and calibration of transmitter and seals, as well as necessary repairs
  • This position also requires a familiarity with production schedules, work orders, assembly, bills of materials, shipping/receiving data, troubleshooting and production solutions
  • Job requires the ability to read print diagrams
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to establish priorities to meet production
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
