Research Analyst - Senior

The Position

The Executive Services Division is now accepting applications for Research Analyst, Senior.


The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience planning, leading and conducting multiple, simultaneous, multi-year research and program evaluation projects in education, government, or health-related fields. Has prior experience working with external agencies, including outside researchers and evaluators, at the local and state levels on the development and implementation of research and evaluation plans and can lead collaborative research and evaluation with colleagues and support staff internally. A self-starter with a keen attention to detail, capable of anticipating problems and developing and implementing timely solutions. A strong collaborator with the ability to take lead responsibility for evaluation projects and for planning and implementing future evaluation projects. Must have superb time-management, organizational, and writing skills. A candidate with demonstrated experience applying data visualization and case management tools and expertise in best practices for monitoring the progress and assessing the impact of programs and initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes. Ability to actively develop appropriate external contacts and networks for future collaboration and funding opportunities.

Under the direction of an assigned manager, represents Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) in various complex, multi-agency data projects, performing project management and leading implementation through collaborative project leadership; leads, plans, organizes and conducts research and evaluation activities; provides technical expertise and assistance to SCCOE and external partners regarding project evaluation status, structure, planning and execution.

This position is full-time, in-person, and has a work year of 12 months, 261 days, 8 hours per day.

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to:

  • Education: Master’s degree in research methods, statistics, educational assessment or a related field AND
  • Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience conducting comprehensive research studies and analytical projects involving multivariate statistical analysis, including one year of educational research experience equivalent to Research Analyst, Associate with the SCCOE

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
  • Assessments and interviews will take place virtually via Zoom Meetings.
  • Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
  • The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for July 13, 2023.
  • Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for July 20, 2023.
  • Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
  • Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for for the week of July 24, 2023.
  • Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their Governmentjobs.com applications, or as updated by candidates in their Governmentjobs.com master profiles. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.
