Dr. Sara Schmitt is hiring part-time research assistants for a new research project examining block play in young children. The study will take place in West Aurora, IL, and thus, the position requires that the person live near that area. Research assistants will conduct child development assessments, observe prekindergarten classrooms, and engage in block play with children. Work schedules will vary, generally between 8 AM and 5 PM weekdays and 10-30 hours per week. Travel is required and research assistant must provide her/his own vehicle. Qualified candidates will participate in mandatory screening and training sessions to learn assessment tools. Training will be held at Purdue University and/or in West Aurora.
Qualified candidates should hold at least a bachelor’s degree, and preferably in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Experience in working in schools is desirable. Being fluent in Spanish is also desirable. $16-18/hr, paid training and travel reimbursement (state rates) provided. Benefits are not provided.
