Job Description:
Summary
The Research Assistant will be responsible for planning and carrying out experiments, as well as collecting and analyzing data from experiments using cell and molecular biology techniques. The Research Assistant will also assist with managing the daily operations of the laboratory and organizing the selection, ordering and tracking of supplies.
The focus of Dr. Elena Oancea’s laboratory is to understand the mechanisms by which activation of cellular receptors leads to specific responses in melanocytes and neuronal cells. The laboratory uses different experimental techniques like immunostaining, confocal imaging, fluorescent live-cell imaging, quantitative PCR, western blot and immunoprecipitation, as well as adapting and optimizing new emerging techniques.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 5/31/2025, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in biology or related field.
Required: Prior related experience working in an organized biology research laboratory or extensive related coursework (grade 7) or 1-2 years experience working in an organized biology research laboratory (grade 8).
And/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred: Quantitative skills.
