Ancestry seeks a Research Manager to join our Southern U.S. research team. The research teams work with multiple clients to help them discover more about their ancestors and, in particular, help them find where their ancestors came from across the world. The team also supports the AncestryProGenealogists travel and marketing department and our Public Relations team.


What you will do...

  • Manage research projects, including communicating with the client and setting expectations, assigning research to team members and contractors, and making sure projects are completed within specified time frame and on budget

  • Manage efficient genealogical research by multiple team members at archives and libraries (online and onsite) to solve client’s research challenges

  • Ensure there is a high quality of research and final product along with developing and mentoring research pod members

  • Direct and teach genealogists of varying levels of ability



Who you are...

  • 5+ years of experience as a professional genealogist

  • Bachelors/4-year degree in Family History, History or other Humanities/Social Science subject

  • 2+ years of experience in project management, specifically managing stakeholders, risks, cost, scope, and schedule

  • Proficient in Southern U.S. research, with an understanding of these records.


As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, Ancestry values pay transparency and pay equity. We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $45,000-$69,000 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision. The actual salary will vary by geographic region and job experience. We will share detailed compensation data for a specific location during the recruiting process.
