POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technician position in Molecular Cytogenetics Core.

Technician will participate in projects or services including NIH clinical Trial Project; IncuCyte Live-Cell Imaging Analysis; Establishment of EBV Transformed Cell line; Isolation of PBMC, CD34, T and B Cells from Human Peripheral Blood; RNAscope; Culture and Plasmid Preparation of shRNA and ORF Clones; Lentivirus and Retrovirus Production; Cell culture and Transfection; RNA and DNA Isolation from Tissues, Cells, Blood, Saliva and Swab; Paraffin Sectioning; Genotyping.

The person will:

Perform a moderate number of simple, and/or moderate, and/or complex technical procedures;
Require supervision only rarely;
Routinely be responsible for ordering supplies;
May routinely be responsible for requesting quotes and information for purchasing equipment for the laboratory;
Frequently modify technical procedures;
Frequently train or guide other lab members;
May frequently operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex, high tech equipment;*
Frequently modify/formulate experimental protocols;
Frequently analyze and interpret data;
May make frequent written contributions to papers and grant proposals;
An understanding of complex scientific literature and an extensive understanding of research goals and rationale is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required to have at least a Bachelor's Degree in a related science or equivalent skills or experience, and four and one-half or more years of related experience.
