Research Technician I

Responsibilities

The Grill Lab at Seattle Children's Research Institute is seeking a Research Technician I. The Grill lab is a growing research environment with an enthusiastic, positive scientific climate. This position will focus principally on using CRISPR gene editing and proteomics in C. elegans to study how cell growth signaling influences animal stress responses. While the position does not require prior scientific research experience, prior research experience is valued. The successful candidate will report directly to Dr. Grill and will be trained by and work with members of the Grill lab research team. The ideal candidate will have a driving sense of scientific curiosity and an active interest in scientific research. Candidates with future interests in continuing to work or obtain further education in an academic research setting will be prioritized. The candidate's work will have the potential to contribute to scientific research publications. Job duties will include:

  • CRISPR gene editing
  • Working with C. elegans (non-parasitic nematode)
  • PCR based genotyping
  • Generation of transgenic C. elegans
  • Protein purification and preparation of purified protein samples for proteomic studies

Requirements

Required Education/Experience: - Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of science or technology OR college-level coursework in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or in a related science curriculum AND equivalent lab experience.

Min to Max Hourly Salary

$18.60 - $27.90 /hr

Min to Max Annual Salary

$38,688.00 - $58,032.00 /yr

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Seattle Children's offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
