Ovintiv has an exciting opportunity to join the Permian Basin Development team in the Texas Operating Area (TOA). The team is looking for a Reservoir Engineer or Senior Reservoir Engineer to coordinate the economic and reservoir evaluation of existing assets and actively participate in the development and execution of investment opportunities.
This position will be located in Denver, Colorado and reports to the Permian Development Manager of TOA.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for horizontal development in coordination with geologists, well planners, land team and other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop new concepts in understanding unconventional reservoir performance and deliver the technology to the business units to increase value.
  • Generate forecasts and type curves for areas of responsibility.
  • Regularly assess well performance and collaborate with Permian team (Completions, Reservoir Characterization, Production, ETC.) to understand key performance drivers.
  • Perform risked/un-risked economic assessments.
  • Work with production team to maximize production, recommend drawdown strategy/artificial lift on new wells and reduce downtime.
  • Analyze competitor data (data trade and public data) to assess optimal development strategies.
  • Provide estimates to budget and outlook process.
  • Proactively review long term drilling plans and collaborate with Mineral Land team to identify potential acreage trades that will maximize value.
  • Keep abreast of technology developments (internal and external).
  • Provide direction and input into the multi-variate analysis efforts within the basin.
  • Participate in peer assists, technical assurance reviews and competitive technical intelligence activities.
  • Collaborate with land, drilling, completions and facilities as needed to optimize the drilling schedule to maintain acreage and maximize value.
  • Promote communication and foster team contribution to deliver results.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or masters in engineering, petroleum engineering is a plus.
  • 5 or more years of experience as a Reservoir Engineer.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Outstanding communication and organization skills.
  • Solid understanding of oil and gas economics.
  • Proficiency with Aries, Spotfire, MS-Excel, MS-Access, MS-OneNote and MS-PowerPoint.
  • Strong track record of results, taking initiative and showing leadership ability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and advance multiple projects concurrently with minimal direction.
In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $135,000 - $200,000 USD
Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
