Resident Engineer (Warren, MI)

We have been designing electrical architectures for more than 100 years and leading the industry in the evolution of vehicle architectures. We like to think of the electrical distribution system as a nervous system, moving power and data throughout a vehicle. High-speed data transmission systems send information from the vehicle’s eyes and ears (sensors) to the brain (computing platforms).

We bring our deep experience and systems integration expertise, whether we are building to print or providing full design services of the entire vehicle electrical architecture. We solve our customers’ most challenging problems.

Your Role

As a Resident Engineer within our Electrical Distribution Systems, you will be providing customer support to a local OEM for the design and vehicle integration of wiring systems, including development of design alternatives, design optimization, product validation, and build/launch support (both prototype and production).

• Customer facing product engineering support
• Support vehicle integration meetings
• Develop alternate design proposals to drive OEM customer designs toward target pricing
• Develop alternate design proposals to enable efficient Aptiv manufacturing
• Support harness validation activities, including development of project specific DVP&R plans
• Support both prototype build and production launch build events
• Ensure customer specific requirements.

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent STEM Major
• 3+ years of wiring harness engineering experience
• Design release engineering (DRE) experience at OEM
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent organization and communication skills
