About the Role

Join RISC Zero as one of our first Developer Relations Advocates! Your mission is to cultivate genuine one-on-one connections and scale our presence in developer communities by showcasing the possibilities of our RISC Zero's innovative technology, thereby inspiring and guiding developers to envision and build within this new architectural paradigm. This role focuses on energizing our developer community, celebrating the achievements of our builders, and collaborating with marketing to spotlight and amplify their success stories across various channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision & Execution: Drive our developer relations strategy by proactively assessing and enhancing the quality and quantity of projects building RISC Zero.

  • Developer Support: Provide developers with the necessary tools and resources, including education materials, and contribute to the documentation, ensuring our technology is accessible and easy to implement.

  • Content Creation: Spearhead content creation targeted at engaging the web3 developer community, especially focused on ZK and Rust developers.

  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your strong technical background to engage with developers, articulate practical applications, create demos/examples, and explain the benefits of our offerings.

  • Community Engagement: Establish and nurture a vibrant, supportive developer community around our technology, fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

  • Product Advocacy: Represent the voice of the developer community internally, providing feedback and insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.

  • Participation in Global Events: Attend developer-focused hackathons and conferences worldwide, promoting our technology and engaging with the developer community. Travel is a critical part of this role.

Top Initiatives You’ll Own  (over the first 3-6 months)

  • Developer Mindshare and Insights:

    • Capture significant mindshare amongst developers and gain deep insights into the broader web3 community, focusing especially on ZK and Rust developers.

    • Success Metrics:

      • Strong engagement metrics on tweets and tutorials.

      • Quality and impact of hackathon recaps and builder features.

      • Development and growth of personal and RISC Zero’s brand within the web3 developer community.

      • Increase in projects utilizing RISC Zero’s zkVM, Bonsai.

  • Developer Success and Support:

    • Prioritize and support projects in their early stages, especially those with a track record of working with other ZK technologies.

    • Success Metrics:

      • Establish and maintain efficient communication channels and feedback loops for developer support.

      • Streamline and track our support effectiveness for developers building on RISC Zero.

      • Track the number of active developers building on RISC Zero over time.

      • Monitor how many companies or crypto projects have completed or reached significant milestones when building on RISC Zero.

  • Assessment of Projects Building on RISC Zero:

    • Continuously monitor and evaluate the quantity and quality of projects developed on RISC Zero.

    • Success Metrics:

      • Monitor the growth and churn rates of new projects building on RISC Zero.

      • Assess the growth of the broader ecosystem, including third-party tools, libraries, and services that support development on RISC Zero.

  • Long-Term Goal (Within 1 Year):

    • By one year, we should have established the foundation for our ecosystem and be viewed as a top developer product in the ZK Space.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in the Web3 domain, especially within ZK.

  • Minimum of 3 years in programming, with a preference for experience in Rust.

  • Experience in providing technical support through community channels.

  • Expertise in at least one of the following social media channels: Twitter, YouTube, or Substack.

  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging content that reaches and resonates with developers beyond traditional documentation.

  • Ability to effectively distill technical and product feedback between the community and the internal engineering team, acting as a bridge for communication and understanding.

  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and engagingly.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks and projects, driving them to completion with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.

  • Comfort with navigating ambiguity and uncertainty, possessing the flexibility to adapt strategies and approaches in a dynamic and evolving environment.

  • Salary: Competitive range of $174,000 - 205,000
