The purpose and role of the Program Assistant is to curate activities that are in alignment with the mission and vision of the Rise: Afterschool Program. They are responsible for making sure that activities for students are fun, engaging and age appropriate. Reporting to and working with the Site Director they use their creativity to help students learn, grow, discover, wonder and have fun!

Small Groups - Working with the Site Director and with the Director, Program Assistants use the Orange Curriculum to plan out the Big Ideas and activities for students.

Weekly they share what the upcoming Big Idea is to Group Leaders and to ensure that the Big Idea is translated properly across grade levels

Electives - Program Assistants lead Group Leaders in coordinating and planning monthly electives.

S.T.E.A.M. - Program Assistants plan and coordinate the monthly S.T.E.A.M. activities. Ensuring that they are fun, engaging and age-appropriate
The Program Assistant leads the Group Leaders in the programming aspect of Rise. After they have completed their planning they are then responsible for ensuring that the planned activities are properly executed amongst the team. They have a through understanding of the monthly Big Idea and the small group activities. They are able to coach Group Leaders on how to engage students and build relationships with them. Reporting directly to the Site Director (s)he embodies and models the behaviors expected from all team members that are a part of the Rise staff. (S)he builds relationships with group leaders, school staff, students and parents. (S)heplays an important role in ensuring that staff culture thrives.
Responsibilities:
Activity Planning:

Small Groups - Build out yearly scope and cycle. Upload planned documents to the shared drive. Print off the proper documents for Group Leaders. Prepare activity bins for the upcoming week.

S.T.E.A.M. - Plan the monthly themes and activities for STEAM.

Elective - Lead Group Leaders in planning appropriate electives that introduce students to different activities.
Leading and Coaching:

Communicating and explaining activities to Group Leaders

Leading and coaching group leaders in student engagement

Ensure that each group/classroom is operating smoothly

Ensure that Group Leaders are following the planned activities

Provide support to Group Leaders when necessary
Other Responsibilities:

Assisting with escalated disciplinary issues

Planning events with the Site Director

Attending quarterly staff hang outs

Building relationships with students
-
Fostering a healthy and fun staff culture
