Growth Product Marketing Lead

About Roam

Our mission at Roam is to make homeownership 2x more affordable for 1 million Americans by 2030. Why does this matter? The real estate market, which is the largest and arguably most important asset class, is facing its largest dislocation in economic history with home affordability reaching its lowest level in decades. This challenge begs for bold solutions, not incremental ones. We’ll accomplish our mission by providing homebuyers a 3rd option when it comes to financing the most significant purchase of their lives, their home. Now homebuyers have the option to pay with cash, mortgage, or Roam.

Roam’s initial focus is to help buyers wind back the clock on interest rates by purchasing a home with a low-rate assumable mortgage, a type of loan where the buyer can take over the mortgage terms from the seller. All government-backed loans such as FHA and VA loans are eligible for assumption by law, and there are millions of these loans at rates below 4%. With a low-rate assumable mortgage, buyers can save up to 50% on monthly payments compared to buying with a traditional mortgage at today’s rates.

Roam helps buyers find these homes for sale with the first-ever listing platform for homes with assumable mortgages. In addition, Roam manages all steps in the assumption process, acting as a specialized transaction coordinator to quarterback the entire process end-to-end on behalf of buyer and seller to ensure they close on time.

About the role

Roam is leading the way in the assumable mortgage category and has generated overwhelming interest and demand from the press and consumers. As our marketing lead, you will have the opportunity to elevate and cement our position as the category leader and support our growth and nationwide expansion to help bring our mission of home affordability to Americans everywhere.

In this role, you will develop and execute a range of marketing strategies and tactics at all stages of the funnel to drive awareness, generate leads, and convert them through the funnel. To be successful, you must have a proven track record in developing and executing impactful marketing campaigns with an emphasis on growth marketing and content marketing. You’ll need to excel in operations and analytics, as you’ll be laying the foundation for the marketing function at Roam and using data from HubSpot to inform both your strategy and execution.

You will be expected to:

  • Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies, including positioning, communication of value proposition, launch strategy, PR, and sales and partner materials through collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Be a great storyteller through positioning, content, and messaging that succinctly communicates how Roam works, and clearly articulates our value and positioning to various audiences.

  • Oversee the development and execution of content marketing campaigns across Roam channels, including our blogs, website, and emails, to reach audiences at every stage of the customer journey—educate, generate interest and demand, and convert leads through the funnel.

  • Own our lifecycle marketing strategy and execution. Partner closely with Product and Operations teams to develop and optimize customer flows and communications to effectively nurture and convert leads through the funnel.

  • Develop and implement SEO strategies to improve organic search results and traffic to our website, including website structural optimization, web content, and traffic/backlink building efforts. Own the assumable mortgage category of keywords with the number one ranking for Roam.

  • Grow Roam’s reach through social platforms as a tool to listen, engage, and amplify the company’s thought leadership and storytelling.

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly track and report on content marketing, PR, SEO, and social media metrics, campaign effectiveness, and ROI to senior management. Optimize and refine campaigns to maximize the business impact of marketing efforts.

After 1 month you will…

  • Be up to speed on the business and team. You’ll work with Roam’s leadership team to define marketing objectives and develop a comprehensive marketing plan aligned with the company's vision and goals.

  • Have a keen understanding of our brand and product positioning to clearly articulate our value and positioning and how Roam works to various audiences. You’ll develop messaging that succinctly describes how Roam works for each customer segment and write and ship a range of marketing content, including emails, web copy, PR pitches, and more.

  • Be up to speed on Roam’s marketing technology stack (e.g., HubSpot) and executing campaigns leveraging these tools. You’ll identify and recommend new tools to help us efficiently scale the marketing function.

  • Establish your reporting approach by identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), and tools for regularly tracking and reporting on marketing efforts across domains/channels such as content, PR, SEO, social media, lifecycle marketing, and more.

After 3 months you will…

  • Deliver and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy and plan for key initiatives such as new market launches, new partnerships, and new products in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Develop and implement SEO strategies to improve organic search results and traffic to our website, including website structural optimization, web content, and traffic/backlink building efforts. Own the assumable mortgage category of keywords with the number one ranking for Roam.

  • Significantly grow Roam’s reach through social platforms (e.g., X, LinkedIn) as a channel to listen, engage, and amplify the company’s thought leadership and storytelling.

  • Oversee the development and execution of content marketing campaigns across Roam channels, including our blogs, website, and emails, to reach audiences at every stage of the customer journey—educate, generate interest and demand, and convert leads through the funnel.

  • Implement a lifecycle marketing strategy that drives measurable results and growth for the business. Partner closely with Product and Operations teams to develop and optimize customer flows and communications to effectively nurture and convert leads through the funnel.

  • Develop and execute a framework for reporting key metrics, campaign effectiveness, and ROI to leadership. Optimize and refine campaigns to maximize the business impact of marketing efforts and provide ongoing recommendations about marketing investments.

About you

We value bold, self-directed people who carry themselves with urgency. Our team has a bias for action, a need for speed, and a soft spot for those who sweat the details. To change the way we buy homes will require courage and conviction. If you have both, we hope you will join us. We think if you have the following skills, experience, and attributes you’d be successful at Roam:

  • Experience. You have a minimum of five years of experience in marketing, primarily across product marketing, content marketing, and lifecycle marketing. You have a portfolio of writing samples and campaigns with measurable results. You have a deep understanding of product marketing, email/lifecycle marketing, content marketing, affiliate marketing, channel partnerships, social media, and SEO strategies, tactics, and tools. Expertise with HubSpot is a huge plus.

  • Analytical. You’re data-driven and results-oriented. You have experience developing and analyzing marketing campaigns to understand what works and optimize performance. You know how to create frameworks for testing, learning, optimizing, and understanding messaging ROI.

  • Excellent writer. You can translate complex concepts into digestible and easy-to-understand messaging for a range of content types. You can craft crisp and compelling product and marketing content that communicates effectively and consistently in our brand voice. This includes copy for web, content, collateral, emails, social media, and more. You have an attention to detail around words and ensuring all of our messaging is high quality and consistent.

  • Ownership Mentality. You’re a strong project manager. You are self-directed and carry yourself with a sense of urgency. You know how to identify and prioritize needs and do what it takes to ensure that urgent and important needs are acted on immediately.

  • Comfort with Speed and Ambiguity.  We’re an early-stage startup, so you’ll constantly be navigating new challenges and need to be comfortable moving extraordinarily quickly.

  • Player/Coach. You’ve built and developed a team. You’re never afraid to get your hands dirty, but you can take a step back and think through strategic opportunities and solutions from 30,000 feet.

The heart of our mission is addressing inequity in housing affordability. We’re here to change the status quo through the company we build and the products we launch. We celebrate a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds on our team in order to reflect the customers we serve. We are an opportunity employer.
