Senior Accountant

Our client, a leading specialty insurer and reinsurer, is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. With a hybrid work pattern based in Hartford, CT, this position provides flexible working opportunities for the right candidate.What you'll do:As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in applying your knowledge of US GAAP and executing financial accounting and advisory services. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Your ability to navigate a complex tax environment will be key as you manage operational tax risks and understand tax implications. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you analyze (Re)insurance financial data and present your findings to senior management. You will also have the opportunity to develop relationships that align with the business plan for the division.• Navigate complex tax environment related to stringent capital requirements, management of operational tax risks, and tax implications.• Ensure audit readiness and remediation.• Manage quality of service delivery for financial accounting, reporting, accounting processes, regulation, governance.• Analyze (Re)insurance financial data and present findings to senior management.• Develop relationships in line with the business plan for the division to support the achievement of its objectives.• Prepare accurate and timely statutory and regulatory reporting outputs.• Support quarterly/annual ad-hoc audit requests.• Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts, providing insight and commentary on variance analysis.• Conduct reviews of results and prepare other ad-hoc reports/analyses.What you bring:The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant role brings a wealth of experience in accounting or auditing, with specific experience in the insurance industry being essential. You should hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. A CPA or equivalent certification would be preferred. Your excellent analytical, problem-solving skills coupled with strong written and verbal communication abilities will be key to your success in this role.
