Job Summary:
The company is looking to recruit an innovative and energetic Head of ESG, who will enable candi to lead the revolution of solar. Given that candi is taking solar into a new realm with a new set of tools, the role will require creativity, innovation and a new way of thinking.
Specifically, the job requires taking ownership of the following for both our Indian and South African teams:
● Lead the ongoing development, implementation and monitoring of the company’s ESG policy and processes through an effective environmental and social management system (ESMS), including setting of ESG KPIs and other initiatives to achieve set targets.
● Build, develop and motivate a great ESG team, currently consisting of one ESG and three EHS professionals across both India and South Africa. Mentor them and promote their career progression.
● Ensure that the company is in compliance with all Health & Safety and Environmental & Social management requirements.
● Coordinate with different business units (such as sales, project development, asset management, finance, etc) on the integration of ESG, H&S and ESAP requirements into business processes and decisions.
● Oversee communications with the Board, the ESG Committee, the company’s several lenders as well as shareholders on ESG matters and provide accurate and timely communication on ESG performance and key issues.
● Be responsible for all ESG related reporting to the Management, Board, Shareholders and Lenders as required under the governing documents, including monthly KPI reports, E&S status reports, ESAP updates, and annual Development and Impact reports.
● Oversee the process of ESG data collection, validation and analysis.
● Oversee and cultivate a solid personal and company ESG image through active thought leadership and strategic relationship management activities that will increase the company’s brand credibility and visibility in the company’s markets.
● Cultivate a culture of high ESG performance and continuous improvement.
Location: Bangalore / Gurgaon / Mumbai / Pune / Chandigarh, combined with working from home
Hours: Full time.
Job Requirements:
● 10+ years of experience in a senior ESG leadership role
● A natural leader who prioritises supporting people working with them
● An authentic and structured communicator with great interpersonal skills and experience in managing international stakeholders
● Good negotiation skills and understanding of legal and governing documents
● Experience in setting up effective ESG reporting and KPI data collection processes
● Significant knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, ideally in the solar industry
● Experience in a scale-up business environment or across different work cultures is advantageous
● Excellent spoken and written English
