General Summary:

General Summary
The Contract Specialist is a field facing role that is accountable for maintaining a high-quality relationship with all levels of the sales organization. This individual will be responsible for gathering data from many sources, conducting analysis, and risk-based decision making that maintains profitability and compliance. Responsibilities also include serving as a coach and mentor to provide support, direction, and leadership to all levels of the sales organization regarding contracting, sales hierarchy and licensing practices.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer all contracts, licensing, and appointment requirements for sales representative, broker and sales manager contracts, transitioning contracts, re-contracts, and reinstatements according to company and DOI guidelines.
  • Partner with field management to accurately establish and maintain office hierarchy for manager contracts
  • Obtain background investigation on prospective producers/managers and make contracting decisions based on results to minimize financial risk to company
  • Maintain the integrity of compensation design by ensuring appropriate agreements are executed and properly maintained
  • Facilitate contracting issue resolutions in partnership with sales leadership, home office partners, legal, and HR
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience

  • Ability to negotiate and interact with all levels of the sales organization and home office employees including senior management.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$38,100.00-$66,700.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
