Sales Representative I

Job Summary

Saybolt performs high quality field Inspections and laboratory analysis within the oil, gas and chemical industry on a global scale. We are seeking a sales representative within North America that is focused on generating new leads, maintains current relationships and commercialize our business products in full. The sales representative position is next to the domestic market also focused on the global opportunities for the Saybolt organization.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • The sales representative is to develop, increase and maintain business for Saybolt. This process will be achieved by assigning specific sales targets. ​
  • The sales representative will be expected to achieve or exceed these targets and reporting and monitoring is being conducted regularly.
  • The sales representative will be responsible for maintaining portfolios and relationships. The definition of ‘maintaining’ will include receiving and distributing all client information including instructions, requirements, questions and concerns.
  • The sales representative will also be responsible to have regular contact with our relations, which may include office visits, lunch and dinner appointments, visiting conferences and seminars and making regular telephone calls.
  • It’s the sales representative responsibility to communicate any discrepancy’s that can occur while dealing with company relations, moreover, it’s the responsibility to solve the discrepancy in a proactive and timely manner.
  • We expect that the sales representative maintains a good market knowledge level.
  • The sales representative must be available to clients at all times. Cell phones, laptop and other related equipment will be made available to operate outside the office and when needed outside office hours.
  • It’s essential that the sales representative has excellent communication skills, as well digital as verbal communication.
  • The sales representative will be needed to keep track of the daily activities by using our internal SalesTraQ system including reaching the involved KPI’s.
  • The sales representative will be adhering to the rules, procedures and guidelines, such as those within the organization.

Qualification requirements

Education and/or experience

  • BA/BS degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of oil, gas and chemical experience preferred.
  • Excellent digital, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relies on extensive industry experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to interact effectively with relations and our internal organization in order to provide information and technical support.
  • Experience with Microsoft office including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.

  • The ability to self-manage, meaning being self-critical and learn from situations.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic.
  • High degree of responsibility, with a good set of problem solving skills. ​​
  • Is able to discuss and explain inspection and laboratory activities.

  • Understands that safety is a top priority within the oil, gas and chemical industry.

Language skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical bid requests, safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write technical bids and related correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or the internal organization.

Mathematical skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning ability

  • Ability to solve practical challenges and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram of schedule form.

Certificates, licenses, registrations

Valid drivers license and a good driving record required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
