Credentialing Specialist - Contractor

The Credentialing Specialist - Contractor supports departmental activities to ensure quality in conducting, maintaining, and communicating clinician credentialing and primary source verifications. Serves as a resource to, and collaborates with others to advance clinical quality and safety across the organization.  The Credentialing Specialist will be critical in both clinician satisfaction and ensuring our patients have access to high quality care when they need it. This is a contract role that will last for 5 months.


Physical/Cognitive Requirements
  • Prompt and regular attendance at assigned work location.
  • Ability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.
  • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., lifting a computer / laptop) may be required.
  • Ability to interact with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner.


Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversees initial credentialing process for eligible practitioners
  • Determines applicant’s initial eligibility for Clinical Staff membership and privileges
  • Analyzes credentialing applications and supporting documents for completeness and informs the clinician of the application status, including the need for any additional information
  • Performs all primary source verifications required in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Compiles, evaluates, and presents the clinician-specific credentialing application data collected for review by the Credentialing Committee
  • Collaborates with Medical Directors to develop and maintain criteria-based clinical privileging in accordance with organizational policies, state and federal regulatory requirements and accreditation standards

  • Displays a credible presence and positive image. Establishes productive, cooperative relationships with peers, management, and stakeholders both internal and external to the organization.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and able to quickly adapt to change
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, able to interface effectively with the best medical practitioners in the nation
  • Proficient in Google systems, including Google Sheets (Excel)
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision for 40 hours a week


Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years credentialing experience. 
  • More than 1 year credentialing experience meeting National Association of Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation standards

The United States new hire hourly pay rate target ranges for this full-time position are:


Zone A: $30.61 - $42.85

Zone B: $35.20 - $49.28

Zone C: $38.26 - $53.56

Zone D: $39.79 - $55.71


This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for candidates based on their respective Zone. Below is additional information on Included Health's commitment to maintaining transparent and equitable compensation practices across our distinct geographic zones.


Starting base salary for the successful candidate will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include, but not limited to, education; training; skill set; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; business needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and alignment with geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and competitive compensation based on their roles and locations.
