Our Availability Engineering teams are responsible for driving ‘best in class’ availability using the software development process. You will work with delivery teams deploying Customer facing software across a multi substrate engineering platform that collectively ships hundreds of features to production for tens of millions of users across all industries every day. Our users count on our applications and platforms to be highly reliable, lightning fast, supremely secure, and to preserve all of their customizations and integrations every time we ship.
What You Will Be Doing
• As a leader of the SRE team focused on availability and resilience, you will drive teams on proactive and corrective availability measures.
• Partner across multiple organizations to set vision, strategy, and roadmaps spanning multiple products, and have a significant impact on businesses or overall strategy
• Drive a unification of multiple SRE teams, reducing duplication and improving efficiencies, enabling product engineering teams to focus on end-to-end service ownership, as well as aligning SRE engineering capacity for software-driven resilience improvements.
• Champion standard processes, observability tool integration, and release rollback & recovery workflows. You will also manage integration tests and validation procedures for applications running on first party, as well as public cloud platforms, including AWS, GCP, and Azure
• Manage a team of engineers and leaders, while developing talent within the SRE organization
• Experience with balancing live runtime management, feature delivery, and retirement of technical debt
• Drive strategic technology initiatives, working with Product Managers, other Architects, Engineers, SME's and the broader Salesforce organization
• Participate in an on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available
Required Skills
• 8+ years of proven track record leading software engineering teams
• A related technical degree required
• Experience building and growing global teams, along with organizational transformation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
• Spot business opportunities and translate them into coherent strategies
• Ability to drive and influence long-term design strategies that span multiple complex projects, deliver technical reports and performance presentations to senior and executive leadership
• Experience with Agile Development Methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle
• Deep experience in one or more object oriented delivery with languages such as Java, Golang, Javascript, Python
• In-depth understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployments concepts, Spinnaker, Kubernetes, and full stack experience
• Experience in a Linux/UNIX data center environment and managing sophisticated incidents
• Advanced in Service Ownership best practices, Observability, including SLO/I/A definition, driving proactive operational awareness and experience with Incident / Problem management

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $296,400.
For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $223,000 to $323,400.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
