Senior Unreal Animator

We are seeking a Senior Unreal Animator to join our dynamic team for a video game company. In this role, you will craft and implement high-quality character, creature, and object animations that enhance gameplay and elevate player immersion. Collaborating closely with designers, artists, and programmers, you will ensure seamless integration of animations into the game.

Your expertise in Unreal Engine and passion for storytelling will play a pivotal role in driving the visual fidelity and overall impact of our projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement high-quality animations for characters, creatures, props, and environments in Unreal Engine.
  • Utilize and refine motion capture data to achieve both realistic and stylized animation results as needed.
  • Collaborate with designers and programmers to align animations with gameplay and technical requirements.
  • Optimize animations to maintain performance standards without compromising visual quality.
  • Develop and maintain Animation Blueprints, State Machines, and procedural animation systems in Unreal Engine.
  • Identify and address workflow improvements to enhance the animation pipeline.
  • Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to junior animators, upholding team quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical animation challenges in collaboration with the development team.
  • 5+ years of professional animation experience in the gaming industry.
  • Proven track record of contributing to at least one shipped AA or AAA title.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine’s animation systems, including Animation Blueprints, Sequencer, and State Machines.
  • Proficiency in Maya or similar 3D animation software.
  • Strong understanding of motion capture workflows, including cleanup and retargeting.
  • Exceptional keyframe animation skills, with a focus on character and creature movement.
  • Deep understanding of anatomy, weight, timing, and visual storytelling principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently in a remote work setting, with strong self-accountability and collaboration skills.
