The Protection, Controls & Automation (PCA) group of Digital Power is the engineering entity of Schneider Electric specialized in developing solutions for control and protection for electrical substations, distribution networks, microgrids, smart grids and renewable generation...
Inside this group, the Datacenter and Substation Automation team is looking for a Automation Project Engineer with a very good understanding of protection and control automation system, good competencies in different communication protocols like IEC61850, Modbus, good understanding about protection system with in the power system to configure and test the protection relays.
The candidate we are looking for has experience in power systems monitoring and control, mostly for low voltage. Medium voltage is also appreciated.
The candidate needs to have hands-on experience in electrical PLC and/or software-based control systems, along with a good background in communication protocols, operating systems, network, and cybersecurity principles.
Responsibilities
• The following are typical tasks of the Automation Project Engineer. It is expected that candidates have proven experience in most of them.
• Preparation of functional specification, HMI specification documents, communication architectures, I/O lists
• Review schematics of protection and control panels
• Integration of intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) in automation architectures – Protection relays, Meters, controllers, IO modules etc.
• Configuration of protection relays, programmable logic controllers (PLC), HMI, and other IEDs
• Programming of automation devices such as protection relays, PLC, Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
• Creation of CID & SCD files (IEC61850)
• Preparation and execution of factory acceptance and site acceptance procedures
• Planning and implementation of training courses and presentations for internal and external customers.
• Reporting Technical presentations to customers.
Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited university, or 10 years proven work experience in the field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in monitoring & controls systems or Distributed Energy Resources management
• Experience in implementing protection / control projects for Oil & Gas, datacenter, Utility segments.
• Experience with communication protocols: IEC61850, DNP 3.0, Modbus TCP/RTU
• Experience in power monitoring & control equipment with solutions preferably from Schneider, Alstom, SEL, GE, ABB, and Siemens
• Ability to work in a face pace & demanding environment under quality and budget constraints
• Proficient English language skills both written and spoken
• Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time inside and outside the country with a target of 25%
• Ability to supervise and coach less experienced engineers and technicians.
