Job Description:THE OPPORTUNITYWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Information Architect: Metadata. As an Information Architect: Metadata you will play a crucial role in describing educational content within our software platform. You will also develop a close working relationship with our authoring and product community, being the voice of platform metadata. This role is essential in ensuring that our users can easily navigate and access relevant content, ultimately contributing to an enriched learning experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining classification systems that meet the needs of our authors, platform teams, and students and teachers.RESPONSIBILITIES• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand content authoring and objectives, and communicate about metadata and content formats clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences• Use data requirements to shape, define and model metadata for describing and relating digital assets in order to serve all product needs, ex: discovery, recommendations, etc.• Support platform teams as they utilize taxonomies for various applications, including teacher and student search, content classification, student progress reporting, and platform and content personalization• Understand and cater to the needs of authors in the metadata and taxonomy creation process. Work with stakeholders and engineers to design and develop processes and interfaces for tagging and relating assets.• Develop and maintain taxonomies and ontologies to categorize and organize educational content effectively to meet platform and content experience goals. Document and train on these, as needed.• Conduct regular audits and updates to ensure taxonomies align with evolving content and user needs• Work with legacy tagging systems and metadata, ensuring normalization of data and seamless integration with new taxonomies and maintain legacy metadata tooling; develop and report from these as needed prior to integration into new pipeline ecosystemWHO WE AREScholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, a leading provider of core literacy curriculum and professional services, and a producer of educational and entertaining children's media.
