Social Media Content Producer (Educator Audiences)

Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a content producer who will be responsible for telling our story, focusing primarily on image design, to our educator and administrator audiences on our social media channels.
Reporting to the Director, Social Media Content (Educator and Administrator Audiences), the Senior Social Media Content Producer will create and drive graphic design and graphic storytelling in line with our overall social media unification strategy and content calendar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create engaging graphic designs on our social media channels:
    • Design with a user-first approach that considers the needs of our audiences on social media.
    • Produce and edit static designs that fit the strengths and unique capabilities of each social media platform.
    • Create designs that are feasible to implement.
  • Manage social media graphic design projects:
    • Manage numerous projects with overlapping deadlines.
    • Work with team members to develop narratives and then design concepts, storyboards, and/or layouts to visualize ideas.
    • Collaborate with other editorial and video teams at Scholastic to help shape design concepts.
    • Analyze and incorporate qualitative and quantitative insights into design thinking and solutions.
    • Repurpose designs created in other formats (i.e. web, email, print) and edit them so they are fit for social media.
  • Engage with our lines of business to create engaging imagery that highlight the benefits of our programs and offerings:
    • Listen to stakeholder needs and manage expectations.
    • Demonstrate leadership and accountability of initiatives, ensuring satisfied internal stakeholders.
    • Influence the customer experience through visual design.
    • Develop concepts from initiation to final execution.
    • Present ideas, layouts, and directions to internal stakeholders and respond to their feedback.
    • Explain design decisions and socialize the capabilities and limits of creating graphic storytelling on social media channels.
    • Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions.
    • Coach and mentor staff in design for social media, skills, and processes.
    • Establish trust and confidence of business partners and interact with them without oversight.
  • Support the content calendar creation in partnership with each line of business:
    • Participate in planning sessions for new content ideas and campaigns.
    • Iterate on the content calendar in a responsive fashion.
  • Partner with Scholastic teams who are instrumental to the experience we provide to our audiences on social media:
    • Align with other subject matter experts across the company.
    • Collaborate with the Search and Paid Media Planning team to drive the interplay between paid and social media.
    • Work closely with partners and support functions to leverage graphic storytelling to address specific emerging needs.
  • Select and manage outside specialist graphic designers, illustrators, or agencies.
  • Utilize and maintain our tools for content management, tagging, digital asset management, and project task calendaring.
  • Be well-versed and attuned to the business models, opportunities, and best practices of social media platforms and modern brands. And help develop Scholastic’s overall social media competencies:
    • Deliver training, best practices, and tools to our internal stakeholders ensuring we are continuously improving while social media evolves.
    • Promote a culture of learning and development.

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT - Qualifications
  • Lover of books and reading.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a graphic designer in social media.
  • Preferred: professional experience in the education sector
  • A strong visual design portfolio that showcases a thoughtful approach to designing for audience needs.
  • Experience creating graphic design and storytelling across various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok).
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to be kind, flexible, and adaptive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign), AEM, Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, Animation (gifs).
  • Artistic direction experience in photography, illustration, and potentially video.
  • Experience in creating multi-platform campaigns that include not just social media but web, mobile, video, or non–digital.
  • Strong understanding of color theory, typography, space, texture, iconography, and user-centered design.
  • Experience managing freelancers and vendors.
