Security Officer - Part-time
Our team’s goal is to have the safest school in Ohio and be a national model for school safety. For that reason, we have high expectations for our security team.
Below is a list of roles and responsibilities of security officers. This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions. Roles & Responsibilities:
● Report to the Director of Operations and oversee safety of students, teachers, staff, and the campus
● Politely greet visitors and build rapport with students and families, while maintaining a high level of security awareness
● Manages access to the building
● Manage visitor check-in system, ensuring all visitors check-in and check-out
● Complete multiple routine checks to ensure that all doors are secure both inside and outside the building
● Monitor cameras and security systems for suspicious activity
● Checks alarms several times a day
● Be visible and make rounds, usually once an hour
● Ensures that all students are dismissed with the appropriate guardian each day
● Write daily activity reports
● Write detailed log of incidents throughout the day with time stamps
● Work closely with operations managers to train and oversee implementation of school safety drills
● Lead and support safety training around fire/evacuation, lockdown, tornado and other emergency management events
● Lead and support training on communications, bus safety, arrival and dismissal procedures
Character Traits and Preferred Experience:
● Minimum of 2 years experience in security industry. Preferred - elementary school security experience
● Deeply committed to student and community safety
● Detail oriented and punctual with proficient written and verbal skills
● Rapport Drive - Driven to build relationships for stakeholders and use relationships to improve school security
● Physically fit - able to move or transport at least 100 pounds, including up or down a flight of stairs. Able to quickly and ascend/descend five flights of stairs in less than 2 minutes. Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and patrol the building routinely to perform rounds and monitor for activity.
● Calm, professional demeanor. Patience with children and young adults.
● Preferred - Knowledgeable in safety technology systems.
● Preferred - Crisis Prevention Intervention Trained. - Must be willing to be trained and comfortable with maintaining a calm, supportive demeanor with children in crisis.
Compensation + Details:
● Hours - 6:00-9:30am Weekdays, 12 month employee, Ability to work evenings and weekends (as school events dictate).
● Pay - $21.00 - $29.00 - based on experience
