Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a highly talented and motivated scientific programmer to assist in implementing satellite algorithms for a NASA mission launching in early 2024. With this mission, NASA will embark upon a new era of unprecedented global atmospheric, ocean and terrestrial satellite data products. It will be capable of performing radiometric and polarimetric ocean, atmosphere and land surface surveys, returning measurements from which properties of the atmosphere, land and ocean can be produced to add to other critical climate and Earth system variables. The selected candidate will work with a team of accomplished software developers and scientists. Job duties may include but are not limited to translating and implementing scripts of remote sensing algorithms for NASA's upcoming data production system.
Required Qualifications:

B.A. or B.S. in computer science, data science, physical sciences, or closely related engineering or science discipline plus at least four years of related experience (or a M.A. or M.S. in computer science, data science, physical sciences, or closely related engineering or science discipline)

C++ coding proficiency.

Experience in handling large data sets Knowledge of Earth observations

Knowledge of data science tools and methodology

Excellent communication skills

Ability to communicate with software engineers and scientists

Eligibility to work in the U.S. as well as the ability to meet NASA's background investigation requirements for IT and physical access to NASA facilities
