Position summary:
Seamer is responsible for sewing scheduled carpet rolls together in such a manner
that it will run through the cutting line with minimum waste and no defects.
Educational requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Skills and experience:
Previous manufacturing experience preferred
Good communication skills, written and verbal
Fork lift experience preferred
Meet license requirements for powered material handling equipment
Essential duties:
Ensure that the carpet rolls listed on the schedule are properly sewn together.
Place carpet flap on table and sew 2 rolls together using the sewing machine.
Fill carpet accumulator to keep up with the knife speed.
Record all rolls sewn together and the accurate yardage of each roll.
Complete production paperwork during each shift
Enter correct run number into printer console to print run numbers on carpet backs
Notify the Console Operator and Re-inspector of any red quality tags before seaming the roll.
Pull A-frames or stage rolls in advance
Check AS/400 for any special instructions
Maintain housekeeping
Comply with safety rules
Comply with environmental regulations
Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
Perform other duties as assigned
Physical demands:
Standing throughout 8-10 hour shift
Frequent lifting of 50-60 pounds
Work environment:
Non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
