Security Engineer

Job Summary

Alkira is growing and our Engineering team is looking for a Security Engineer. This is a fully remote position and can work anywhere in US or Canada.

As a Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall security of our cloud infrastructure, network, and applications. You will work closely with our development, product and IT teams to identify and resolve security vulnerabilities and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems. The ideal candidate should be familiar with various security tools and technologies, have strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor computer networks and systems for security issues, investigate security breaches, and develop solutions to mitigate security risks.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
• Develop and implement security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices for information security.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats, technologies, and trends and make recommendations for improvements to our security posture.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure that security is integrated into all aspects of our operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in security engineering or related field.
• Experience with security tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing tools, and SIEM systems
• Knowledge of security protocols, cryptography, and network security technologies.
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, or ISO 27001.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP are a plus.

• Nessus, Nmap, or other vulnerability scanners
• Metasploit, Burp Suite, or other penetration testing tools
• Splunk, ELK, or other SIEM systems
• Security frameworks such as NIST, ISO, and GDPR
