The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Security Monitor (On Call) - Hesburgh Library - All Shifts.

This posting is primarily based at the Hesburgh Library. There is a need for On Call Security Monitors on Days, Afternoons, and Midnights. On Call Security Monitors are trained to work in multiple areas of campus and may be assigned to do so. These areas include the Hesburgh Library, Main and East Entrance Gates, Main Building, Basilica, Snite Museum and Raclin Murphy Museum of Art.

Our campus Security Monitors :
  • observe, protect, patrol and enforce rules/regulations to help ensure the safety of guests, faculty, staff, and students as well as the assets in the venue where they are assigned
  • provide exceptional customer service to welcome guests, faculty, staff, and students and to assist visitors and university guests with directions and other information
  • control access and observe ingress/egress from the venue in which they are assigned and may be directed to lock/ unlock doors, activate/deactivate alarm systems, and otherwise secure the venue
  • control keys as assigned
  • walk through assigned buildings, use radio communication , answer phones, monitor CCTV, and complete paperwork as assigned
  • report unusual circumstances
  • respond to emergency situations by following established guidelines
  • attend mandatory training as scheduled
  • keep up-to date on significant functions and activities occurring on campus in order to answer questions from guests, faculty, staff, and students




An On Call employee may work up to 900 hours per year for the University.

Minimum Qualifications:
Basic computer knowledge and skills are required. Work schedule may include a variety of days and hours. Availability to work early and late hours along with some holidays is required since the Hesburgh Library is a 24-hour building during the academic year. Must be available on football home game Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong customer service and/or retail background is preferred.
