POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION
This position serves in two important areas: Security and Shipping and Receiving. The primary function is Shipping and Receiving and will be cross trained in Security to cover as needed. As a Security Officer, assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of security procedures based on policies determined by the Corporate Security Manager to meet required codes and regulations. Ensures safety and security protocols are followed. As the Shipping and Receiving clerk, coordinates and leads the shipping and receiving functions at the data center. Provides documentation of movement, control and expenditures for property and/or services under various contracts. Analyzes warehouse inventories ensuring optimal performance at the lowest possible cost. Provides protection for personnel and company property. Regular, predictable attendance is required for satisfactory performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Security:

Ensures all employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company issued identification.

Ensures the client, its associates, and RDC personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.

Follows all company-related security policies and procedures. Assists with the preparation and maintenance all required security manuals.
-
Patrols assigned post on foot to maintain visibility and observe possible unusual activity.
Investigates and reports maintenance and safety conditions. -
Ensures that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times.
-
Investigates security related accidents/incidents, interviews witnesses, complaints, and victims; gathers physical evidence and preserves it for future use; completes report and follows up with management as needed.

Investigates and reports fires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility related events.
-
Responsibilities include crowd control and assisting Fire Department/EMS or other officials during these processes.
-
Responds to all requests for assistance relayed by Supervisor or client; complete various company or client assignments as required.

Performs project work or duties assigned by a supervisor, and continually monitors material processes for improvement.
Shipping and Receiving:
-
Operates a shipping and receiving point for all property delivered to RES.
-
Inspects, classifies and stocks new product and prepares a material inspection receiving report for the items received. May purchase product from manufacturing and/or vendors.
-
Maintains a propositioned “tickler” file for product, materials and services acquired through a purchasing agreement.
-
Prepares and reports discrepancy incidents of shipment to the procurement activity. Establishes and coordinates claim actions against carriers.
-
Reviews and researches requests for new stock additions, stock revisions and stock deletions to best service required production.
-
Operates postage meter to prepare shipping label. Obtains necessary information (i.e. destination address, weight, number of cartons/boxes, date, method of shipment, bill of lading, price, etc.) for shipments.

Assists in the annual verification and annual physical inventory process.
-
Prepares items for delivery including acquiring signatures, maintaining records, updating the database and monitoring the movement and use of property.

Maintains a clean and orderly shipping and receiving area.
-
Distributes and collects Company incoming and outgoing mail.
-
Performs duties and responsibilities as described in the quality system.
-
Maintains all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition.
-
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
-
Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools and equipment for the security team.
-
Strong understanding of occupational hazards and safety rules.
-
Extensive knowledge of the Data Center Security Best Practices.
-
Permitted to carry and use lethal or non-lethal weapons.
-
Working knowledge with MS Office and Data Entry. Strong knowledge of the AMAG electronic access control system.
-
Command of the CCTV Pelco camera system.
-
In-depth knowledge of the regulations, policies, and operation associated with the Shipping & Receiving Department.

Familiarity of Security procedures and policies in addition to company policies

What will make you a good fit for the role?
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required.
-
Two years college with emphasis in criminal justice preferred.
-
Law-Enforcement and/or Military Schooling a plus.
-
Minimum of three years’ experience in law enforcement, industrial or governmental security or an equivalent combination of same.
-
Must have experience in the administration and operation of: access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems.
-
2 + year(s) of shipping and receiving experience.
-
Hand and Machine tool experience.
-
Forklift Operator.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Close visual work on a computer terminal.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.

Requires an employee to bend, reach and stand for extended periods.

Ability to climb ladders and work on a raised platform.
WORK CONDITIONS

Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.

Extensive daily usage of computer or workstation.

Exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
-
CPR/First Aid Certification required.

Forklift Certification required.
-
Must carry “Security” certification from the DCJS or BSIS.

Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.
-
Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
-
Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center, maintaining a calm and coherent demeanor at all times.
-
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays and be part of on-call escalation protocol.
-
Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $27.30 – $34.10 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance to local state and federal ‘Wage and Hour’ requirements.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
