Security Specialist
This Security Specialist position is responsible for implementing RAND security policies and procedures related to information, personnel, physical security, and safety. The position will report to the Manager, Industrial Security & Regulatory Compliance, and assist the Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO).

Duties
Perform classified document control activities, to include:
  • Respond to JIRA tickets for document reviews.
  • Assist in classified document reviews to ensure compliance with federal classification requirements.
  • Print or receive classified documents and record into accountability.
  • Barcode classified documents and entered applicable data into STARS.
  • Audit, track, transmit and destroy classified documents.
  • Assist in the coordination of classified meetings and telephone calls held in the SCIF conference room.
  • Prepare documentation to request SCI/SAP access for research and support staff.
  • update access request spreadsheet
  • Send outgoing and receive incoming SCI clearances via JPAS/DISS and fax; process these in SIMS/STARS
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Security Executive Agency Directives (SEADs) and intelligence regulations
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) or Defense Information System for Security (DISS)
  • Experience with Intelligence Community Directives

Experience
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience preferred.

Education
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • AS/AA degree preferred.

Security Clearance
  • Must possess and maintain at least a Secret U.S. government security clearance, or if U.S. government security clearance is no longer active, must have possessed at least a Secret U.S. government security clearance within the past 24 months.
  • Possession of Top-Secret U.S. government security clearance is preferred.

Salary Range
$43,500 - $62,900
