While timely diagnosis of infectious diseases is critically important to enable effective treatment, testing is primarily performed in centralized laboratories, which require samples to be shipped for processing, delaying the return of results by days. Point-of-care testing solves this problem by delivering the timely information necessary for clinical care.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, helping develop internal controls and processes, and assisting with month-close procedures as well as ad hoc projects as necessary. Ideal candidates will have a combination background in public accounting and in industry, preferably with life sciences and/or medical device experience, and the ability and desire to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will report to directly to the Assistant Controller and play an instrumental role in the financial growth of the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform period end general ledger close and financial reporting process including preparation of financial reporting package
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all Company cash, prepaid expenses, and liabilities are properly recorded and accrued for
  • Maintain fixed asset accounting processes including documentation, timely capitalization, monthly depreciation, tagging, transfers, and dispositions
  • Assist in month end close related to cost accounting
  • Support the full Order-To-Cash lifecycle
  • Assist in grant management, including compliance to terms and reporting
  • File necessary regulatory filings, including 1099s, Use Tax Return, and others as necessary
  • Drive the monthly variance analysis and make recommendations for resolution of issues
  • Review, participate in, and coordinate audit deliverables to provide requested documentation and analysis in a timely manner
  • Ensure the accounting function continually provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Partner effectively with both internal and external business partners, including auditors, to address and resolve accounting and reporting issues
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation and drive the implementation of solutions
  • Assist with special projects, analysis and other tasks as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a public accounting and/or life sciences organization; medical device/diagnostics company experience a plus
  • Experience with US GAAP
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Highly proficient with Excel and overall M/S Office proficiency
  • Experience with Netsuite is a plus
  • Elite attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional, responsive, and customer-focused working relationships with all levels of staff
  • Ability to clearly communicate about accounting issues verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work seamlessly in a cross-functional, rapidly changing environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement
  • Positive team attitude with a willingness to work on both smaller and large tasks to help get the job done
