Primary Purpose:
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the Director of Corporate Sustainability and Chief Sustainability Officer with a methodical approach in examining ESG trends, market risk assessment/analyses, peer benchmarking, keeping abreast of ESG regulations/policies in local (CA, TX), national, and global (Mexico, Canada, EU) that can have material impact on Sempra’s position as a global leader in ESG. This role will also support advancing technology related process improvement projects in the Corporate Sustainability organization. This individual is responsible for reviewing and understanding end to end business requirements through engagement with finance, audit, risk, IR, strategy, legal, and others to identify and address operational, financial, and technological risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform market research in collecting data on ESG peers and industry and collate consolidated information into actionable items, reports, and presentations; effectively interpret data, perform SWOT analyses, and catalogue findings to databases.
- Maintain a constant and forward-looking pulse on ESG industry practices and trends, remaining fully informed of market trends, research, studies, and best practices.
- Support the implementation of business solutions by individually or collaboratively developing solutions; demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and apply functional understanding in the development of appropriate solutions; Demonstrate and apply understanding of governance in the areas of data management and process improvements.
- Participate in multiple projects by driving the advancement of project deliverables; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones; following proper escalation paths and managing relationships; Provide project level analysis which includes producing required project analysis documentation (business requirements, scope matrix, use cases, process flow diagrams, future state proposals.
- Support with PowerPoint presentations - varying from internal information to executive level presentations.
- Support Corporate Sustainability team by performing admin related tasks. Additional tasks include reporting writing and maintenance. Provide backup support as a cross-functional team member as needed; ODAA.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
Experience:
- 5 years relevant experience.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with data analysis, must be proficient in MS Excel. Must have experience integrating data from other systems.
- Experience with research and market trend analyses.
- Experience with ESG technology platforms like Intelex and Workiva.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and drive project initiatives without losing momentum.
